Concerts in the Garden...and Eurotazza

Once, I heard a friend call San Marcos "San Marvelous."

If that's the case, then Fort Worth can be called "Fort Wonderful." Silly, I know, but I wanted to throw that out there.

Now, to the meat of the post. There are some good upcoming concerts that you all should be aware of.

First off, the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra organization always puts on some quite cool and interesting summer concerts -- and they happen in the Botanic Gardens. There's some eclectic music this year -- everything from Asleep at the Wheel to the 1812 Overture to a Tribute to Pink Floyd.

On June 10, Patty Griffin is the featured artist at Concerts in the Garden. Go here to learn more about the concert and to order tickets.

Patty Griffin is a superb singer-songwriter, whose songwriting talents and vocal abilities are equally matched. You don't want to miss this night of music. Her newest CD, Children Running Through, came out in February, and it has some great tunes. It's hard to go wrong with any Patty Griffin, though. Also, every Concert in the Garden is followed by a fireworks show. It's a great way to spend a summer evening, if you ask me.

Also, if you're interested in some local Fort Worth talent, I (Megan) will be playing at Eurotazza on Friday, June 22 and on Friday, July 20. Eurotazza is a cool space with some tasty coffee (and has the best hot chocolate I've ever tasted). Check out my tunes.

Here's a video of Patty performing No Bad News, one of the best songs from her new album.

Great video. And great concerts. It's a swell place for a summer evening, for sure.
